Finding Dee: Intolerance. Panel 1: A wheel of cheese with an angry face, clenched teeth, and stink lines rising from it. Panel 2: Dee holds her stomach with one hand while a “gurgle” sound effect appears, looking uncomfortable. Panel 3: Heidi says, “What’s wrong, Dee? Is your stomach bothering you again?” Dee, holding a phone, replies, “Yeah. I’m gonna look up the symptoms online.” Panel 4: Dee reads from her phone: “Let’s see. I’ve got… bloating, abdominal cramping, gas, nausea, diarrhea…” She then says, “Oh no.” Heidi looks concerned. Panel 5: Dee says, “It… it could be… adult onset…” then, in bold with a gulp sound effect, “…lactose intolerance!” Panel 6: Dee, pointing accusingly, shouts, “Et tu, cheese!?!” The angry cheese wheel yells back, “WHAT!? I have clearly been trying to kill you for years! Don’t act so surprised just because I’m delicious!”

A lot has been going on this summer, so of course, I will need to chronicle it all in comic strip from.

And the first one of you who recommends some fake cheese that you INSIST tastes even BETTER than the real thing is getting sent to the corn field! I’ll just keep taking Lactaid… and my chances.

When it comes to cutting corners with the character art, I am very bad at it. I like my strips to appear as animated as possible.
However, the irony that this rerun strip exists in a gray void of nothingness as opposed to a background of literally ANYTHING else is... not lost on me.

Finding Dee – Negotiation Panel 1: Two adorable gray kittens sit side by side, looking innocent. Panel 2: Heidi is smiling and gesturing while speaking. She stands beside Dee sitting in a chair with crossed arms, looking skeptical. The two black kittens are near their feet. Heidi says, “Okay, so I know you have a lot of really good reasons why we can’t keep the cats, but hear me out.” Panel 3: Heidi, animatedly explaining, says, “First off, they were just abandoned in the parking lot of the supermarket, so I couldn’t just leave them.” Panel 4: Heidi holds up their poodle, Poe, like a baby while speaking with a hopeful smile. Poe looks irritated. She says, “So, we can still rehome them. Buuuut… look, Poe isn’t nearly as crazy as when he was a puppy and they’re getting along.” Panel 5: Heidi tucks the irritated dog under her arm and continues, “And we’re in a much bigger house, and Rick is here to help take care of them now, and I think it will be different this time.” She asks, “What do you think?” Panel 6:Dee, with the cats all over her, now hugs both kittens happily with hearts around their head and exclaims, “MINE!” Heidi, clapping with joy, says “YAY!”

Heidi was clever in her kitty ambush. She knew that my resolve would VANISH once exposed to the cuteness. AAAAND she was soooo right. lol

I've been doing this all a LOOONG time, so that builds up the stamina a smidge. Plus, this is just book 3. Books 4 and 5 are done too, and just about as long. Book 6 is coming along too. Lol
