One of the best roguelikes ever. Unfortunately, the trophy list for Hades is a total RNG fest.. I'm relieved to have this one out of the way before the eventual Hades II launch on PS5!

🏆 Platinum Trophy #150: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Been awhile since I've posted a platinum update. 150 is a big milestone, and I'm happy it ended up being such a special one. Expedition 33 is one of the most beautiful games that I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

This is officially the rarest book in my collection. Nice to finally have a signed novel from one of my favourite authors.

Here's my haul from Fan Expo Canada 2025! It was my first time ever going to a convention. Definitely plan on attending again next year.

One of the things I hate about the modern movie discourse is that films are only deemed successes or flops based on how they performed at the box office.

Was the movie good? Did you enjoy watching it? As a fan, those are the only questions that really matter to me.

Happy to confirm that Donkey Kong Bananza is peak.

Turns out that a game all about smashing the shit out of absolutely everything in existence is a ton of fun.

After beating The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for the first time, it's one of the best games of all time.

It portrays the concept of dream worlds in a way that made me feel dread. It required me to make uncomfortable moral decisions. And it even made me question my existence.

Brilliant game.

Very excited for Nioh 3.

Nioh 2 is among my all-time favourite games and one of the best ARPGs ever made, but I also feel that it's severely underappreciated by fans of action games and Soulslikes. Happy to see that it's getting a sequel.

It's so much more fun to watch a Game 7 in hockey when your team isn't playing in it.

Yesterday, I read the latest Hunger Games novel: Sunrise on the Reaping.

It has strong character development, explores subjects like propaganda and grief with a thoughtful approach, and it's very well paced. I'd recommend reading the original trilogy first, but it's a worthy entry and a great read.

Stayed up until 4AM watching Love is Blind this weekend.

Never, in a million years, did I ever think I'd watch a show like this. But man, I'm absolutely HOOKED.

Voted for the first time since 2015 today.

I've taken our country's robust election system and democratic values for granted over the last ten years. And I'll never make that mistake ever again.

The good guys won. Canada saved hockey tonight.

On the bright side, I'm glad that I updated my YouTube recently, because now my current PBs across every game are uploaded there and won't be lost.

Still, a lot of my old runs are about to get nuked. Maybe I should start uploading my first speedruns from every game to YouTube as well?

Can't say I'm surprised by Twitch's new 100-hour storage limit, but man, it's incredibly disappointing.

Unfortunately, I imagine a lot of speedrunning history is about to be lost because of this decision. I hope most communities are able to save as many records, highlights, and VODs as possible.

Two books into Mistborn Era 1, and this is shaping up to be the most enjoyable series I've read in years.

I loved the character development in Well of Ascension, and the ending has so much tension and mystery that I honestly can't wait to read the finale.

Now that I've experienced what it's like to use Izuna Drop in Ninja Gaiden, I don't think my life will ever be the same again

Guess I'll finally play Ninja Gaiden this year.

Ninja Gaiden 4 honestly looks sick. Glad to see that PlatinumGames is still alive, too.

I'm 4 worlds into Tropical Freeze, and it's one of the best 2D platformers I've played.

It has everything I love about Donkey Kong Country. Great music. Cool level design. But it also has unique character mechanics, momentum, challenging levels, and Funky mode. Game's awesome.

Finished my first read of 2025 and my first Brandon Sanderson novel: Mistborn.

This book lived up to the hype and made me excited to read the Cosmere. It's been awhile since I've felt so immersed in a fantasy series like this.. the magic system, world, and characters all rock.

When the Switch 2 trailer drops and everyone forgot you have a game releasing today

I saw my first Del Toro film last night: The Shape of Water.

It's beautiful. Stories focused on water resonate with me, and I appreciated its representations of otherness as well as its incredible score. Also, it was cool to learn that the movie was filmed right here in Canada!

#AGDQ2025 rocked. Glad I was able to tune in this time, because it was one of the best GDQ events that I've seen in awhile. Made me remember why I loved speedrunning.

🏆 Platinum Trophy #145: Metaphor: ReFantazio

First platinum of 2025! Definitely my favorite RPG from 2024, but man.. the trophies left a lot to be desired. I could live with the missable trophies if you didn't also have to complete an entire NG+ run just to beat the superboss.

Metaphor has some of the most beautiful artwork and scenery that I've ever seen in a video game.

But I also feel conflicted. Why couldn't we explore or interact with these locations in game? It would have been so much cooler if we could visit these places as dungeons.
