Today is #EmancipationDay, marking the beginnings of the abolition of slavery in “Canada” in 1833. This history is not well known—I learned all about slavery in the US but didn’t even know that there’s similar history here until today. Hope you’ve learned something new too.

Labor built Medicare. Its next legacy must be a health system that keeps people well
Introduction by Croakey Professional Services: The Australian Social Prescribing Institute of Research and Education (ASPIRE) is calling on the Albanese
“If Medicare was about guaranteeing access, then the next legacy must be about building health differently: through prevention, through connection, and through community.” —Dr. J.R. Baker, via @croakeynews.bsky.social

Haha thanks JBI, will keep you posted on how it goes! I’m excited to learn from @uvicnursing.bsky.social CEiHC facilitators. Is there anything that I should prepare or read ahead of time to get the most out of the training?

Curious to hear more about that—what if the second reviewer checks the AI extraction for accuracy as the authors of that paper suggested?

Just registered for the @jbiebhc.bsky.social Comprehensive #SystematicReview Training this October through @uvic.ca. Excited to strengthen my evidence synthesis skills as I dig deeper into #SocialPrescribing and #SeniorCare research to help build the evidence base!

I work in a large organization (UBC), so from time to time, people trying to reach another Jeffrey Wong accidentally email me. So far, I’ve been an OB/GYN and a tech manager… who knows how many more Jeffrey Wongs are out there lol

As a research assistant @idea.nursing.ubc.ca, I really appreciate having the mentorship from our patient partners who are living with dementia. They bring lived experiences to our projects—and working directly with them honestly helped me grow as a researcher.
