what the tech publicists call "a.i." is just big, crappy databases and mindless and often incorrect autocorrect.

The Martian audiobook by the same author had Wil Wheaton as the narrator, so instead of Matt Damon on Mars, the whole story, I imagined Wil Wheaton stranded. I read Project Hail Mary in dead tree form, and just as habit, I imagined the whole story as Wil Wheaton playing the main character guy part.

I think the eggshells are just when people take letting someone know how they're being hurtful as being an attack instead of an opportunity for empathy and community growth. Empathy is the answer. Almost always is.
