A couple years ago, I was doing this game completely off the computer as a mental health exercise, so there are no documents, only sketches and a couple ๐ŸŽฒโœ‚๏ธ paper prototypes (which I have...misplaced)

- design for players, not designers
- clear hook + clear goals/paths
- visual value on fun things
- there's no fun without function (lol)
- pretend trailers/sell sheet -> validate

I make quick assets with a layout tool (dextrous.com.au) and a linked spreadsheet, then import the result in screentop to play with the cards on a virtual tabletop. Dextrous can export print files as well, for when i'm confident enough to bring it to prototype testing events!

In commercial tabletop game design, there are innumerable paths to failure for every one path to success.

But to create, itโ€™s often helpful to ignore this fact temporarily.

I used an old idea of mine to test that prototyping method, a simple solo card game without much of a theme for now. Just by playing and iterating (like 30+ times), the game evolves so fast! ๐ŸŽฒโœ‚๏ธ
