This movie is going to be an overwhelming favorite in Disney+.

“Take Me Back” by HAIM, from their new album, really did take me back, as she name checks Kling Street, which I had an apartment at for years after college and always was difficult to find a parking spot on.

Cancel culture isn't new; we've always had it. We literally write essays about it in high school for the Scarlet fucking Letter. What changed recently is who we cancel - we no longer cancel you for for being queer, using drugs, divorcing & remarrying, but for being abusive, hateful, or a sex pest.

Seems like the “keep politics out of my art” crowd are running out of art that doesn’t challenge them in any meaningful way. In related news, Morgan Wallen is very successful right now.

Did anyone else make a purchase strictly off the cardboard stand at Barnes & Noble for the middle grade book IMPOSSIBLE CREATURES? The cover is great. I’ve been reading it with my kid and it’s very good. I just haven’t talked to anyone who has even heard of it.

Because I was really in the tank for Marcel the Shell With Shoes On. So, he's 2/2 with me.

Took the family to see LILO & STITCH and I felt like I liked it the most. I didn't really care for the animated film and those faithful elements weren't my fav parts, but I responded to the score and the cinematography. I guess I really like the direction of Dean Fleischer Camp.

I’m not interested in ranking the Mission: Impossible films, but the Vienna Opera sequence in Rogue Nation is fantastic. Just old fashioned moviemaking at its best.

I like writing to Dire Straits because I know the songs so well that they drift into the background. But the one song that jumps out is "Your Latest Trick" because the 80s saxophone is so extra that you just have to stop everything you're doing and take notice.

So, I saw SINNERS at the Vista last night and loved it. When I got home, I read some very well thought out criticisms that the writing was undercooked. While it all made points I agreed with, the movie was so entertaining and stunning that I kind of want to dismiss them.

The confidence in my spelling of "rhythm" is sort of like how I understand the cast of Christopher Nolan's ODYSSEY movie. I'm pretty sure I know all the characters involved, but I'm a little hazy about how it all fits together.

I was in Rome with my family the past couple of days and it was pretty surreal but not crazy. I really fell in love with the culture. They love Pope Francis! And gelato.

I’ve been out of the country for two weeks and just getting back. It’s weird that the one thing I miss when traveling is not seeing a movie on opening weekend in LA. Feels like SINNERS has been out for a month.
