We flew into Geneva from Bournemouth a couple of weeks ago and got through quite quickly. I’m only just realising how lucky we were.

Ah. Didn’t know they’d stopped. My V15 is about 40 years old … and the stylus about 20 🤔.

Stantons were designed to tolerate cueing, which is a bit niche unless you’re a DJ. Also, never try and cue with an elliptical stylus!

The disc cutting channel at the BBC where I worked used a Shure N95 for check playback. I have a V15-IV currently so I would always recommend Shure.

I think Capt WE Johns SF novels are unjustly forgotten. They’re true juveniles but they (with Dan Dare) were important in my grounding in SF.

Pastiche does bother me. Should it be humorous? Is it true to say “paying homage … rather than mockingly parodying”? But then how is parody different?

Bournemouth has a dearth of pubs because it’s not an old enough community. It would be madness to close one.

Two things I remember about the London concert doing this:

Jim Steinman playing piano in gloves

Meat’s cartwheel across the stage

See also the Axe and Compasses in Arkesden near Saffron Walden. Burned down and now rebuilt perfectly … beams and all.

I’d forgotten Dave Evans. An amazing style … fingers just floating over the frets!

When you've been searching high and low for something and still can't find it, go back to the very first place you tried and it's usually right there. You just didn't collapse the wave function properly the first time.
