The U.S. president just ordered all the military generals to an unprecedented gathering in Washington, then told them that they should plan to participate in a war on American cities.

Tonight’s Jimmy Kimmel monologue was a watershed moment for politics and free speech. He handled it with grace, dignity and humility. The more Trump comes after these people the less popular he will become.

This speech is such an extraordinary combination of lies, delusions, narcissism, hatefulness, ignorance and lunacy that it could have been given by no other person than the president of the United States. It could well be the low point of US public diplomacy in our history.

Actually he would make a good character actor in such a role, or certainly look like one.
