That blood awakens after her and her Lady are attacked by an unknown assailant. Turns out, the Lady's father, who suspected Enid's lineage is the one responsible for the attack and wants to use Enid's Dragon Blood to advance his own position.

Enid lost her family as a child and ended up working as a lady's maid. After meeting Geraunt, she learns that she comes from a village who took in Dragon Nobles who survived the War, generations ago, meaning she most likely has Dragon Blood.

His eye turned draconic in a failed attempt to awaken his latent powers. Because of his appearance, he never removes his helm in public.

Geraunt is a Protector, raised by a dragon blood clan whose duty was to keep the Dragon Nobles in check. Despite a powerful lineage, he failed to develop sufficiently to be of use to the clan and was relegated to mercenary work.
