Trump's latest Executive Order, "Reinvigorating America’s Beautiful Clean Coal Industry and Amending Executive Order 14241" is nuts. It's one thing to increase reliance on domestic energy, it's another thing to call it beautiful and clean.

I was once driving down a road through Appalachia and saw a sign that said something like "Warning, fog next 5 miles." Then I kept driving and what i saw was decidedly not fog, it was smog from the nearby coal plant bellowing gray clouds into the sky. The sign was propaganda.

Hey, satellites in low earth orbit aren’t actually at the temperature of outer space. They get warmed by earth and sun and that’s significant. The panels on satellites see temperatures ranging from -200 degrees Celsius to over 100 degrees Celsius. Exact temperatures depend on satellite and orbit.

I hated Durian when I first tried it. I decided that a billion people can’t be wrong so I set out to learn to like it. Took me maybe 6 years but it finally flipped in my head and it’s one of my favorite fruits. It took my toddler 3 tries to like it and now it’s one of her favorites also.

This tiny purple crab was hiding among the folds of a large sponge in the Philippines. Took me forever to get it in focus!
