My instinct is to make the case that USAID is extremely good, actually. But I feel like it’s more important to say, “What is happening is antagonistic to the foundational document of the nation.”

USAID matters. I've often disagreed with their strategy and choices, but their work saves more lives than any philanthropy can. It's a rounding error in the federal budget, and one of the best things we do as a country. To see it destroyed overnight by one unelected man is an unmitigated horror.

As a kid who grew up on a healthy diet of Star Trek, I've aspired to live in their world of diversity, egalitarianism, & science-focused progress. Where there's no hunger, no greed, & all the kids know how to read.

Instead we got a fascist coup leading us towards WWIII. How is this is real life?
