When you gotta draw your LARP character because the warmup is supposed to take two minutes and you still have brainrot and can't decide what to scribble.

I've been staring at my unfinished chapter for thirty minutes trying to figure out how to follow up on this absolute treasure of modern prose:

My go to is: "Hey do you wanna uhhhhhhhhhhhhh-" followed by emphatic gesticulating at my face, their face, and the loose pile of mentos and lip balm I keep on hand.

I am very smooth, you see.

So I'm working, still. I'm trying to keep going to the gym. I'm still playing Dungeons and Dragons. I'm still drawing stupid things for myself. I'm still trying to buff the spaghetti stain out of my shitty countertops. But I'm doing it while saying, emphatically, with my whole chest: Fuck Cancer.

The thing about grief, for me at least, is that it's a minefield of "what-if"s. What if we had caught it sooner? What if we had done something different? What if we hadn't caught it at all? Grief is weirdly speculative, and speculation is useless. Anyone who knows me knows I hate feeling useless.

A week ago, I lost someone very dear to me to lung cancer. She was a stellar lady who travelled the world, raised two absolutely rad human beings, and who knew the meaning of the word "family" in a way few others do. I was damned proud to call her my mother in law for thirteen years.

Looking up good drawing references for snakes is an adventure in watching people who are afraid of snakes misidentify everything they see as a cottonmouth, anaconda, and black mamba. Please. I just want pictures of copperheads. Ma'am that is a garter snake.

It happened, y'all. My d&d character has been reunited with her demon ex(?) boyfriend. Everything is super fine, and she's not at all upset.
