Continuing with this Suck-ery year, we just had a paper published describing some fossils of what appear to be the Copper Redhorse (Moxostoma hubbsi). The Copper Redhorse is known today from the St. Lawrence River around Montreal and is endangered. www.mdpi.com/2410-3888/10....

This name is appropriate because it both represents the passage of time by referencing a monumental scientific event, and also reminds us that the Apalachicola Redhorse was still a species before description just as the moon existed before mankind set foot upon it or first recognized it in the sky.

Quite proud of the name: Etymology. A neuter adjective from the Latin ante for before, and luna for moon. This name is a reference to Bob recognizing this species one year prior to the moon landing in 1969.

A species nearly 60 years in the making. I was truly standing on the shoulders of giants for this one - both Bob Jenkins and Jon Armbruster.

Lucky to have gotten to assist with a summer field course for ichthyology. A definite bright spot for me, and another handful of young adults have hopefully gained a greater appreciation for our local fishes
