Please just bring me some warmer days for spring break. PLEASE. I need some time on a stream for my sanity.

The tuna keel is a mechanosensory structure Tunas are high-performance pelagic fishes of considerable economic importance and with a suite of biological adaptations for high-speed locomotion. In contrast to our understanding of tuna body and muscle function, sensory systems of tuna are poorly understood. Here we present the discovery of a remarkable sensory lateral line canal within the bilateral tuna keels with tubules that extend to the upper and lower keel surfaces. Neuromast mechanoreceptor organs are found periodically along the canal lumen, enclosed within tubular ossifications that we interpret as modified lateral line scales.

At the southern terminus of the Appalachian Mountains flows streams rich in aquatic biodiversity. The Shoal Bass, Micropterus cataractae, is one such treasure.

The hadal zone (6,000–11,000 m) is the deepest part of the ocean. Some creatures like the deep-sea snailfish live here, surviving crushing pressures.

I was taught in grad school that scientists should have 3 versions of talks about their work ready: a 30 second β€œelevator pitch,” a 12 minute conference length talk, and a 40 minute seminar length talk.

I think we should also have a short version aimed at non-scientists.
