LIKE I GET IT, DGMW. That's the point. They didn't want us sitting in our room all day, and it's to motivate us to get up and around.

I'd have been even happier if they had more than two windows for me to look outside. They kept my blinds closed between the pane glass and it hurt me more mentally to sit in my room after a while.

I think what I hated the most was how easily I lost track of the time and day. If I wanted to know what time it was, I had to physically walk to the nurses station or look at the "community board" for the time and date.

The day room gave us free access to the TV given we felt like leaving our rooms. It took me two days before I even wanted to get out of bed.

I should clarify that they did provide me a gown (two, as I'm plus size) and scrubs for the men. (I was the only woman in the unit at the time)

Your pants and shirt could not have laces either. They did not allow hoodies, lace or not.

I had to ask for hygiene products. Likely so they could guage when's the last time I bathed.

You were encouraged to wear your street clothes, but your socks either needed to have grip or be issued by the hospital. Your shoes could not have laces. Otherwise, you walked around the facility in your socks the entire time.

(The dining room floors were super sticky because of all the sweet tea)

My doctors only (personally) checked on me in the morning. To ask me the same set of questions every day, the same ones the nurses had to ask me twice a day while taking my vitals.

I think I met my caseworker all of twice. Once at admission and at discharge.

The nurses had to call maintenance to change the temperature because they kept the thermostats locked.

None of the doors had regular handles. They were all smooth, sloped surfaces that you had to pull down on to open and close doors.

There was only three rooms with clocks. The day room, the dining room, and the nurses station.

The faucets didn't have knobs. They were buttons that just turned off after a while, so you had to keep pressing them periodically while you washed off.

There's no toilet seat or lid.

I had a window, but the blinds were kept shut behind another pane that needed to be unlocked to adjust them.

Love how I was watching a video spitting facts about the direction the US is going and my, very orange Hitler supporter, coworker piped in saying they sounded very arrogant.

Contrary to popular belief the biggest beginner's roadblock to art isn't even technical skill it's frustration tolerance, especially in the age of social media. It hurts and the frustration is endless but you must build the frustration tolerance equivalent to a roach's capacity to survive a nuclear explosion. That's how you build on the technical skill. Throw that "won't even start because I'm afraid it won't be perfect" shit out the window. Just do it. Just start. Good luck.
