It is a bit too cold for me to sit outside in the mornings and do a quick painting, but I have decided to keep up the practice of a daily quick sketch.

This morning I tried out a new fountain pen on the Tinman painting. It is a “fude” Sailor pen which has a bent tip.

Guess who made it out of the kiln and home in one piece?! No major mishaps just a bit of cracking in a couple place. I will need to decide out to finish it and how to display it. I love the back so I might have the back to the room.

I wrapped up my bust and it is currently drying before it is fired. I liked how it turned out. Now we will see if survives the kiln.

Been working on a bust for 4 weeks since I finished my torso sculpture. This was the last day with the model but I will continue to work on it for a little bit longer.

This weekend was also my first Plein Air Painters of Chicago paint out of the year. Feeling a bit rusty but it was fun to get out and paint again.

Started a second sculpture this time focused on just the torso. I am about 4 weeks into this piece and i like how it is turning out.

My sculpture is done. I fixed the arm and refined the base. We will see how it drys and what it looks like once it is fired. I am very happy with how it came out. Next week we bring a new pose!

It’s been a while since I posted an update on my sculpture. Made good progress on it and the last session with this pose is next week. I will be working on some refinements but overall I am really happy with out it has come out.

Visited the misty Neuschwanstein Castle and the Hohenschwangau Castle today. The murals were in great shape but they are very strict about photos, so you will need to take my word on it. Word of warning it’s a very steep walk up the mountain to get there.

Fun evening exploring Munich with friends.

Made some good progress in today’s sculpture class. Most of the focus was refinements to the arms and head, but I also started playing around how the cloth of her seat would be reflected here. Last few minutes I started to try to work on her face.

More progress on my sculpture. This week added the start of arms and the head. I adjusted the shoulders to better match the height difference since she is really leaning on one side and the other is draped over her legs.

I had so much fun this morning taking my first figurative sculpture class. I haven’t sculpted with a live model for many (many) years. This is the first session and will be continuing on this for the next couple months.
