If the system is not robust enough to stop an autocrat seizing power, it's not fit for purpose. Also if campaign contributions influence policy more than public opinion, it's not democracy. There was plenty wrong with the system before this.

True. The term "opioid" is an umbrella term for plant derived opiates and synthetic opioids such as fentanyl. As I understand it, the driving force behind the current synthetic opioids boom was legal prescription. The synthetic opioid trade found a new market, it didn't compete much with heroin.
