I do feel like they've recently been experiencing a bit of a renaissance over the past year or two. Mario Wonder especially signals "hey, we've still got our stuff". It's honestly just a matter of longer times between games because they're much more intensive nowadays

Oh I'm right there with you!! Tbh that's part of the reason I really like Nintendo. They have a reputation of making great games that just work (outside of Pokemon recently). And since they have to make their games pretty lightweight for Switch, you know that they've actually tried to optimize it :D

That's true actually, so many games are just getting bigger and bigger in scope that post release content like paid DLCs are hugely important. Publishers can't afford to go in the red while waiting for a paid DLC to come around, so inflating the price is one of the best ways to cope

The phrase "on sale for 50 dollars" hurts my soul... I remember buying Smash Bros Brawl full price for that much, man
