I know I'm some random on the internet but when I had a similar issue drinking (good) decaf from fresh beans helped me wean off the high-test. It let me satisfy the urge for coffee while also letting me start getting off the caffeine. Doing a half and half mix to start might also make it easier!

If I may be so bold I would recommend the City Watch subseries. There is a character starting in the third book "Feet of Clay" that you may relate to. Granted this is outside of my personal experience so I am making a possibly erroneous assumption.

Discworld is legendary and Terry Pratchett was an incredible author. I have yet to find another who blends humor and a deep understanding of the human existence as well as he did. Even his early novels are delightful and later ones such as Night Watch puts much other literature to shame.
