It’s a story about aging, restlessness, motherhood, enchantment, & er, trees. Lots & lots of trees.

I haven’t settled on a title yet, & I’m tempted to take votes on social media because I hate trying to title things. But I’m not sure & it’s still too early. (Maybe I’m just procrastinating.)

Well, despite everything, & in actual defiance of the bastards that would sooner have me shut up, I finished the latest draft of a new novel today.

I started it three years ago, so in some ways it already feels like ancient history, but it also needs at least one more revision pass so, yeah.

After a recent rain, a large brown maple leaf lies in the grass. Nestled at the giant leaf’s center, is a tiny yellow maple leaf, like a sparkle of sunshine.

I hope you have a safe, healing, and loving week. And I hope in all the holiday madness, you’re somehow able to hit pause and notice what’s wonderful about you and your life. And if you can’t, or if things are too complicated or painful right now, that’s ok. Know that I’m grateful for you. Truly. XO

3. Book club that shit! Reading with one friend is fun, reading with a bunch of people is awesome sauce. Discussions can be way more interesting and challenging with a few extra perspectives thrown in the mix. My hope is that Breakwater is the kind of book that's worth discussing.

2. Review it online? I’m told Amazon doesn’t let you post review unless you bought it there? Boooo! But maybe post your honest reaction elsewhere? I honestly get a kick reading what friends have to say about books, albums, tv, movies, etc. Even one or two sentences could peak someone’s interest.

1. Word of mouth. Tell 5 bookish friends or family about BREAKWATER if you think they might like it. Email or text em? Or maybe talk in person but follow up with a link? (I forget what people recommend unless I get a text. 😛 )
