Thank you! The world is a fire of need right now; Reckoning can only alleviate that need by supporting and building community for writers and artists thinking and creating beauty about environmental justice. That's not enough, but it's something, and we're incredibly grateful to get to do this work

A common note I'll see on manuscripts is "I don't know what this word means."

I hate that note. If the definition pops up in the first search result, that's a reader problem not a writer problem.

For me, and this book, that word was "ruderal."

"Of all the books I’ve had the opportunity to review, 'What a Fish Looks Like' is one of my absolute favourites."

When a reviewer as thoughtful and cogent as @redfernjon.bsky.social writes that, I pay attention.

Check out the review we just published of @syr.bsky.social's debut novella!

I’m sharing this video again because people don’t really get what these data centers and ai are doing to our planet and our communities. Especially Black communities because they were strategically placed there.

I need you to listen to these people.
STOP USING AI. STOP SUPPORTING AI.

a reminder that I’m on the Reckoning team and if you send us a novella and if we decide to publish it there’s a chance I’ll be the one to edit it. an even higher chance if it’s queer, weird, and obsessed with birds, snails, moss, or other cool shit. no promises of course! but it could happen πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€

Reckoning X is here! And I have a story in it.

So grateful to have this particular story, about an oddball psychogeographic investigator who listens to birds as much as people, in this particular magazine.
