6/ On the technical side, the drones used are primarily Parrot or 3D-printed quadcopter drones. Videos released by the 1er RIMa during HEDGEHOG 2025 show no use of fiber-optic guided drones. It seems that the EDC is primarily experimenting with drone swarms.

5/ From a manpower perspective, the EDC was formed from a squadron previously mounted on the AMX-10RC. It is too early to say whether other squadrons will be converted into EDCs. The unit will remain in testing until the 2026 ORION Exercice, at which point a decision will be made on its adoption.

4/ News from Ukraine shows the specialisation of drone teams in specific tasks could be more effective as demonstrated by the Russian Rubicon drone unit. In any case, it would be interesting to compare with Ukrainian and Russian drone formations.
