Haven't gotten a lot of sleep the last few nights, and we started today early with a (beautiful, brilliant) ride towing Puppernugs around the lake (mix of gravel and pavement, stops to swim, sniff, etc), so fully leaning into coffee (3 16oz pourovers, a sizeable cold brew) and not mad about it.

I firmly believe you can do better if this is your version of choosing violence

I can honestly say this is my favorite part of ghostwriting, even more than stepping into someone else's voice: All of the random bits of knowledge I would otherwise not have. I can only imagine how much (otherwise seemingly) random stuff didn't make it into your book.

It's been decades since I've taught at this point, but I remember that frustration. At least then, asking what parts of the class/concept they felt more confident/sure about was usually a safe starting point, but that was in person/not email. (How have you been responding to those comments?)

Also, I have space for a few more author coaching clients, should that be helpful to anyone. DMs are open if you have questions.

I love what you're doing here, and it's definitely helping inspire me to push for something similar here. (That currently falls under the parks & rec purview, and I'm on that board, but it's so far down the list of priorities...something more focused would be a big step forward.)

This is a good thread! Some great questions and answers about vaccines.

That is, the book won't write itself. We have to do the work to make the thing.*

*This is as much a reminder to me as to anyone else who might need to hear it.

One of my author coaching clients is juggling so many things right now, and it's a good reminder that a huge part of getting any big thing done is project managementβ€”and that can be especially true of writing a book. Finding slivers of time isn't always easy, but we have to, right?

I just sent you both requests. Bummed I missed this chat last week, but enjoying catching up now.

I want to ride "at the pace of joy" more often, I think; it sounds delightful (actually taking our pup in the trailer has been perfect for this; there's a sweet spot where she thinks it's the best thing ever, where there's just enough breeze for sniffing but it's not too fast)

With every passing day, we are descending further and further into a dystopian horrorscape that I fear we will never recover from. We've lost our humanity if we cannot recognize this.

I usually love watching the descents, but she’s making me nervous. Absolutely on the edge there.

Ugh. We’ve all been there but it’s no less frustrating when it happens. Glad you’re okay and it wasn’t worse.

I was a β€œroll out of bed and go straight for a run” until my mid-30s, but since (& aided by a few injuries) have definitely needed a lot more stretching/warmup time. YMMV, of course.

It's so incredibly infuriating to the vast number of us who would really prefer our tax dollars not go to supporting a genocide or war crimes

Yes, this exactly. Cyclingβ€”& the better understanding of power dynamics that came with itβ€”has 100% made me a better person and a better ally.

Still got a budget for the "our cabin at the beach" decorative signs, though!

Because we go to the lake most days (if snow doesn't preclude access, anyway), can confirm the only piece you forgot is the constant sweeping away of sand that traveled with you

5 pm dinners of my childhood mean that I now tend to start making dinner at 4 pm...and I'm not mad about it?

I think if it were easier, we probably would at least occasionally. But closest theater is 45’ away and when we’re traveling through places with theaters it’s not always easy to figure out what to do with the pup. Huge fan of small theaters, thoughβ€”went to a handful of indie fests when living in MN.

If you’re not careful, you’ll end up like me…who last saw a movie in a theater in, oh, 2017?

We have four (or five, even) shops here in our little tourist town. It's still almost impossible to find specific parts unless you're willing to gamble with whatever random thing (not what you were looking for) one of them might have.
