I just went out there and performed baking favors. 376 French macarons in four days.

I'm really quite tired.

This was a fun little ride. But was I the only one who up until the very end thought the whole thing was just a bad trip? I felt like a lot of the puzzling decisions really were just there to make us wonder if what we were seeing was really happening or just hallucinations.

important reminder: food banks usually prefer money to direct food donations because they can buy at discounted rates

check with your local food bank to be sure but now is the time to help out

Got to see this on the big screen tonight! What an absolute treat! If your local cinema is like mine, it may be playing all week. And really, if it's playing all week in Erie, PA, it's gotta be everywhere. Take advantage, people, this is a rare opportunity! #godzilla #shingodzilla #movies

It's a swerve into mind-bending cosmic horror next with a Benson & Moorhead double feature, Resolution (2012) and The Endless (2017). These are a treat! Puzzling, strange and showing real artistry in squeezing impressive results from small budgets! Squishmothra was confused (me too) but intrigued!

4 - Annihilation is gorgeous and terrifying and it works whether you know/understand what it's meant to be about (cancer) or not. For all of it's mind-bending unreality, Annihilation gives me so much authentic human emotion, I absolutely love it. Plus it's scary!

08.08.2025 21:30 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

3 - It's in the direction and the look of the whole thing and the writing... I don't know. No shade on the actors, some amazing performances, really. This film is never going to be for me. Annihilation, on the other hand...

2 - No queer person in 2025 fails to grasp the horrors in The Mist (obviously not talking about the tentacles and cosmic bugs, here). But something about it feels like an outsider's idea of what this would look and feel like. It feels caricatured, like something I truly fear is being made light of.

1 - Probably not a shock, but I hate The Mist. Hated it when I first saw it (in the cinema, with my dad) and hated it on this, my only rewatch. It's not just that backhand slap of an ending, it's the way the whole thing adds up and the way it all feels.

Up next, alien horror c i n e m a! I need to catch up on posting these, since the new season of Evolution of Horror started. The Mist (Frank Darabont, 2007) Annihilation (2018, Alex Garland). I love one of these films and hate the other. Can you guess which is which? #horror #movies #aliens #cosmic

Anyway, that's more than anyone wanted to hear about that. Cloverfield, again, I love a giant monster. I like found footage films. Could have done without the annoying videographer, but.... It's one of those things, maybe it's my generation, but we all know that guy don't we?

He recognizes that he can return to fulfilling this role and doing good for himself, his family, and his community and it doesn't matter if it doesn't make any sense. It's a mystery, and like any mystery tradition, it can't be explained. It has to be experienced. This is a lot like my personal path.

Ultimately, we see him taking back up his role as a minister. I think, instead of returning to a basic Christian faith, what we see is a man recognizing that things can be interconnected in inexplicable ways and addressing that in a spiritual fashion can be a positive force in people's lives.
