Bag of new pillows

For some this may not appear of any significance… but for anyone from ED it’s a game changer… brand new pillows delivered to ED - is it a sign we are turning the corner for Emergency care in the UK? Or just luck?

This is what a government can actually do… make difficult decisions that are at most an β€˜inconvenience’ for some but actually reduce casualties on the roads.

But sadly it’s hard to own the success while SM and some gutter politics use the inconvenience for political gain πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

If the Emergency Department is the safety net for all healthcare, Community Emergency Medicine is when we go fishing with that net to ensure everyone who needs our expertise has a fair chance of receiving it.

Shut down the youth clubs.
Sell off the playing fields.
Put up "no ball games" signs.
Make public places hostile to teenagers.
Then:
"Young people, eh? Always indoors looking at their phones."

The 2024 findings on A&E are stark - just 12% said they were satisfied with the length of time it takes to be seen in A&E.

Ambulances: Welsh government to overhaul response time targets Targets will focus more on survival rates, over time taken, and prioritising the most urgent calls.

As the conditions and responses become ever more complex and nuanced it seems a sensible option to offer a suite of measures for the ambulance response.

Hopefully we can do the same for the ED β€˜targets’ and have less blunt measures!

With this check, the United States purchased Alaska from Russia for $7.2m in 1866

What happens if they want it back & invade Alaska?

Would the US be happy to exchange land for the prospect of peace?

Or just like Ukraine would they fight to keep their land?
