Spotifyβs revenue could always have been used to pay music makers fairly (independent artists still average just $0.003β$0.005 per stream) but instead that money is flowing by the hundreds of millions to invest in AI driven military technology. It gives me the ick, so I'm leaving.

hello moth: goodbye spotify
Most of my musical catalog is no longer on Spotify as of 2025/10/15. It was never a good platform for artists and has only become less hospitable to independent creatives over time... π§΅

I'll be playing a live set this evening on @cjsw.bsky.social in anticipation of @terminusfestival.bsky.social.
The show, NOISE, starts at 8:30pm MDT.
90.9 FM in YYC or listen online at cjsw.com/programming/
I play Terminus at 6:00pm on Saturday July 26. Tickets at terminus-festival.com/tickets/
Each Tuesday, Cafe Koi hosted an amazing community of artists encouraging one another. I played my very first notes on that stage, and count myself lucky to have connected with the people there. Koi has been gone for years, but I still love the feeling I get from playing a new song at an open mic.
