I just played w the Allies expansion for the first time last night - I definitely recommend it once youโve played the base game a few times.

16.12.2025 15:13 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Ahh your iconography and graphic design skills are so good! Yeah it seems like thereโs a good distinction between up/down in this version
07.12.2025 22:13 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0These components look so nice already
07.12.2025 20:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I had a great time at PAX Unplugged (my very first board game convention)! Looking forward to the next oneโconsidering PAX West next year since Iโm on the west coast.
24.11.2025 23:31 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Ah I didnโt try that one but it sounds amazing
24.11.2025 18:15 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Whatโs the โPGMGโ table? Is that in the Expo Hall?
21.11.2025 01:19 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Wow the artwork is beautiful!
19.11.2025 16:36 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Iโm aware of PlaytestPDX but havenโt made it yet, since Iโm out in the gorge. Hoping to go someday though!
19.11.2025 16:09 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah, I'm pretty far from Seattle (east of Portland, OR) but I'll definitely keep that in mind next time I'm up there. I'll definitely stop by and try your game if you're demoing it!
17.11.2025 22:59 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0So cool! As a first-timer, how exactly does Indie Games Night Market work? Do the designers demo their games with attendees in addition to selling them?
17.11.2025 22:45 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The components look so good!
17.11.2025 22:16 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0๐ฒโ๏ธ Iโll be handing out some business cards at PAX Unplugged, featuring a roll-and-write game where youโre a game designer racing against the clock. Let me know if you want one (or just want to meet up and play games)! #PAXU

09.11.2025 17:04 โ ๐ 26 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 2Yeah itโs just called โTabletopโ - itโs far from perfect but might be handy for some things :)
03.11.2025 05:27 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Agreed, Adobe products feel so clunky after switching to Figma. Also I made a plugin called Tabletop for digital playtesting in Figma if you want to try it out! Itโs not perfect but has helped me w some designs.
02.11.2025 16:08 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Love the old-school line/vector art, reminds me of both classic arcades and Star Wars UI
01.10.2025 18:46 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Got my badge as well!
10.07.2025 20:52 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That seems like a sign of an experienced designerโyou're able to reach a point where you feel like the game is the best version of itself.
19.06.2025 16:16 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0So if youโre at a point where youโre making multiple copies of a prototype, do you consider the design locked (apart from any changes a publisher might want to make after signing it)?
19.06.2025 15:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0๐ฎ Youโre a machine!
19.06.2025 00:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Wow thatโs a ton of work represented in one photo. Good luck!
18.06.2025 22:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The meeples are the best! On the first playthrough, the rules seem very intimidating because each faction/player has unique abilities. But fortunately you can mostly ignore the other factions' rules and just focus on your own.
17.06.2025 17:18 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0First time playing the physical version of Root last night! I was the Keepers in Iron (badgers). I found the relic retrieval mechanism pretty fun, although I struggled to expand too much beyond my initial starting area. The crows had a runaway victory as their plot tokens were unchecked for too long
17.06.2025 17:12 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yeah I hear you, seems like good guidance. I have a prototype where thereโs 6 total possible actions, which are all fairly simple in terms of complexity, but it still feels like a lot to explain. Now Iโm considering ways to simplify and streamline, which is always a good design exercise.
07.06.2025 01:19 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thank you @colewehrle.bsky.social for your talk about the game design process on the Zenobia YouTube channel!
I was wondering, when you mention allowing for around 4 actions in a mid-weight game, are you referring to total actions in a turn or action types to choose from?
Thanks for the detailed reply! Yeah I was curious if playtesting should be deprioritized in favor of pitching finished prototypes to publishers, since you probably want to take full advantage of that face time with people in the industry.
05.06.2025 19:54 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Q for published tabletop game designersโhow do you spend your time at game conventions? I've never been to one and I'm curious how much time you spend:
a. Meeting with publishers (pre-planned)
b. Ad-hoc pitching to publishers
c. Playtesting
d. Playing games / meeting other gamers

Pretty excited about these 3D-printed pika pawns for my prototype! ๐ฒโ๏ธ
03.06.2025 15:49 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Looks like great table presence! Iโm curiousโwhat are some of the misgivings youโve come to terms with? Iโm still learning when to be okay with certain aspects of a game that arenโt as elegant as Iโd like.
02.06.2025 04:58 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Haha nice, let me know if you have any AE questionsโIโve spent way too much of my career in that app.
