I am taking this game of Perfect Draw seriously. Why do you ask?

I need every cis person who is framing the OU situation as an academic controversy to read this for the context they are missing and so desperately need to be loudly fighting against.

Perfect Draw! Getting more attention is great. But also it's wild to see two people critique the game by saying completely opposite things to eachother.

Like. That's normal. People have different wants and expectations. And rpgs especially are play dependant. But it's weird.

Admittedly since it was our first crowdfunding campaign, it was legidimantly important for reaching an audience that would give it a try at all.

But for now we hope the words of people who have played the game make it clearer.

Yeah. We've considered it.
We do have to include it for legal reasons doe the parts we have taken inspiration from though.
But if we had the chance to do it again wede probably just find the way to not.

I accept that the world is full of bad practices and shit that sucks. I get that nothing is moral under capitalism. etc. but I can only really deal with one at once:
- Evil monetization practices
- Messiness and bad writing
- Underlying misogyny and bigotry

As a ttrpg designer who reads a lot of other creators work my instinct is to note this for for a lot of little indie projects I've seen - but it's true in just about every consumer art space there is

If your making consumer media, then I genuinely think the thing thats most important to recognise is that "finishing" something is a half way point at best.

Refining is infinitely more important then your best ideas.

This is why the switch era Pokemon games look like that btw. The fusion of nintendo's home and handheld consoles meant Gamefreak had to do the work of jumping three extra generations then anyone else has really ever had too.

Legacy games creators got to take steps at a time that are impossible for anyone else today unless you're lucky enough to slowly claw your way up from an indie hit into AA into being bought out.

The only reason AAA companies exist at all nowadays is because they had the time to get the experience needed BEFORE games of that scale became the biggest and most expensive projects in media.

People have this strange idea that you can just throw money at a video game being bad and it'll become good. That's not how it works; you can't just pay people and spin up a AAA studio from nowhere.

Amazon tried. Google tried. This shit is actually complicated.
