It is glorious to see Twickenham filled to the rafters for the Women's Rugby World Cup

Good luck England

From Butch Cassidy to All the Presidents Men via the Sting Robert Redford was a titan among actors.

Each killing is a tragedy, is a family ripped apart, is a devastated parent or an orphaned child, is a community that is less than it was the day before
They all count and they all count equally
Weep for Charlie Kirk if you want to but know that you should be weeping for all of the victims.

Why do the Republicans say that this death is blood on the hands of Democrats but refuse to accept that with the same reasoning their own hands are covered after the assassination of the Democrat lawmaker recently?

As a UK resident I don't know any details about these other deaths but why do politicians on the right get incensed by the killing of an ally but care nothing for the other deaths? Why not take solace in Charlie Kirks words 'a few deaths are a price worth paying to have guns available in the USA?'

12.09.2025 13:48 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Where is the Republican outrage over those deaths - where is the Boris Johnson tweet about the man in North Carolina, about the man killed and woman injured in Arkansas?

While I disagree profoundly with Charlie Kirk I would not want him killed
I feel for his family and what they are going through
I do find my self angered by the hypocrisy of the right wing, both here and in the USA. In the last 72 hours there have been 45 deaths across the US caused by gunfire

Lib Dems eye Labour-held cities as they target 'seats not votes' The party wants to focus more on the cost of living to appeal beyond the southern heartands - with Labour's misfortunes providing an opportunity in urban areas.

β€œLiverpool is a traditional Labour heartland but in January lost its first local authority by-election there in 27 years to the Lib Dems”

It’s also the only party to potentially have sufficient seats at the next GE to put a line through #Brexit to reboost the economy.

What an amazing defencive tackle by the Scots.

Covered a huge amount of ground and stopped the Fijian player just before the try line

It's good to hear from @carlcashman.bsky.social in this @skynewsrss.bsky.social article. He has long advocated for Liberal representation in Liverpool and other (Labour) urban areas for some time now. I would love to see more wins for the #Libdems like the recent one in West Hampstead in London.

The fact that Reform were trying to run a person who had been dead for six months as their Croydon Mayoral candidate is proof if it were needed that they are not a serious party.

It demonstrates abject incompetence and no vetting as well as utter contempt for the electorate.

'Coastline crisis' declared as Britons put off swimmers due to rampant sewage Britons waterways are plagued by sewage spills, agricultural run off and forever chemicals.

That means allowing for serious and higher fines to be levied with persistent sewage dumpers held criminally responsible. The public will not stand for anything less

These polluting firms have been let off the hook at every turn.

The only way to reverse the Conservatives' neglect of our waterways is for Labour to give the new regulator the powers it needs to hold these water companies accountable

City Hall Lib Dems Statement: "20 years ago today, Jean Charles de Menezes was shot dead in a fatal police error. His family then had to battle for years for any degree of truth, accountability or justice from the Metropolitan Police.

That is a stain on our national conscience that must never be forgotten - or repeated.

Decades may have passed, but the Met must continue to learn from this disgraceful moment in its history and show constant commitment to institutional reform, openness and honesty with the public it serves."

The BBC are constantly bending over backwards to please Reform.

I fear they're becoming a mouthpiece for Nigel Farage, a guy who wants to destroy them.

Text - I will be voting against the PIP bill today.

The Government’s proposed changes to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) are unfair, and will create division and fear among people whose health is declining.

These reforms risk inflicting long-term harm on some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

Text - I will be voting against the PIP bill today. The Government’s proposed changes to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) are unfair, and will create division and fear among people whose health is declining. These reforms risk inflicting long-term harm on some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

Text - It should never have taken a major backbench rebellion for the Government to recognise the damage these changes could cause. Yet even now, the limited concessions made do little to address the fundamental concerns.

Although current PIP recipients won’t be affected under the new plan, it still introduces an unjust two-tier system where future disabled individuals are denied the support their peers currently receive. Simply delaying these proposals instead of rethinking them altogether highlights the Government’s rushed and ill-considered approach.

The Government must go back to square one. Without a proper impact assessment, MPs lack critical information, and those most affected have yet to be meaningfully consulted.

The Liberal Democrats will continue to oppose this bill, which risks stripping thousands of carers of crucial support and leaving many vulnerable people without the help they need. While the cost of welfare is too high, if the Government is serious about reducing it, the focus should be on properly funding health and social care to address chronic ill-health at its source and ensuring that people have hope for the future through decent education and homes.

Britain is a tinderbox and our efforts to confront Islamophobia are not good enough At this week’s Mayor’s Question Time, I asked Sadiq Khan a straightforward but urgent question: why is there still no dedicated Islamophobia training across London’s public institutions? It’s a questi...

Islamophobia has been normalised in politics, in the media and in daily life. The threat of violence is all too real to British Muslims - so where is the concerted and concrete action to stop it?

It's simply not good enough.
