I wish more people understood that veganism is not a perfectionism movement, nor a diet; it is about doing what is possible and practicable in our individual circumstances to lessen our impact on animals, and by extension other humans & the planet ⚖️

You are doing what they do when they can’t make a coherent response against a well reasoned position but just saying MAGA instead of libtard

What hypocrisy, also as someone who is probably concerned about Trumps cuts and wasteful spending, do you know how much animal agriculture is subsidised in the US?

No you don’t, you are arbitrarily applying a different set of ethical standards to a different species, that have similar essential interests they don’t want violated. Veganism is about being consistent with valuing justice and opposing discrimination.

If you are against all these other forms of discrimination, it entails that veganism should also be moral value of yours

Yes Nazis were famous for being against discrimination, obviously

If you oppose discrimination and value justice you ought be vegan by your own standard. Animals have similar essential interests that it would be unethical to violate in the human context. Therefore without a consistent justifier for distinction in treatment you are engaging in discrimination.

It’s more ethically consistent if you value justice and oppose discrimination

You have made the accusation of moralising nature but if we are part of nature having concern for other human suffering should be the same as for wild animal suffering. You have made the accusation I’m saying we ought to interfere in nature but my point is we ought have at least concern

I have a framework for what I mean when I use the term ethical. You’re doing a lot of accusations without clarifications and have been bordering contradictory repeating buzzwords doesn’t make you clearer

I’m just concerned when cultural practices have victims. Having concern with wild animal suffering isn’t about controlling nature it’s about extending care. If we are happy to help a child get medicine for a natural disease should that been seen as interfering with nature?

The only vegans I can think who you might mean are ones also concerned with wild animal suffering, do you think this is not an issue? I’m not sure many who have an issue with moral issue with entropy

16.04.2025 12:46 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

The ethical issue is the exploitation and discrimination and being killed

It’s also increasingly impractical as more people are living in urban environments whereas plant based agricultural technologies such as vertical farming and hydroponics are far more integrable with these environments.

The environmental impact of animal ag isn’t just the fact it is concentrated animal products are inherently far more impactful and small farms would add to travel impact. ourworldindata.org/food-choice-...

How does it moralise natures cycle?

16.04.2025 12:25 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Everyone puts themselves above nature, you’re not living in the wild you use modern technology. Many vegans realise the environmental benefit of veganism and are vegan precisely because they view our domination of animals as wrong. What do you mean by reciprocity in a vegan context?

16.04.2025 12:15 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

It wouldn’t even necessarily need to be a tax it could be done by ending the massive subsidies animal ag gets although both together could be good

Abstaining from nature isn’t the ethic of veganism, it is about being consistent with valuing justice and opposing discrimination by extending our consideration to other animals. Are you implying Afro-veganism views some exploitation and killing is ok. Do you apply your logic of being part of nature

16.04.2025 11:57 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 3    📌 0

Animal products inherently have far higher environmental impact. A well planned WFPB diet is very healthy and reduces risk of certain conditions. Also if you value justice and oppose discrimination as an anti-capitalist you should consider the exploitation of animals as unethical as well

Humans and non-human animals have similar essential interests,(ie wanting to live free from harm ) and if we oppose discrimination we ought consider a violation of these interests unethical for both. Plants aren’t sentient and don’t have interests to violate.

Veganism is about being consistent with valuing justice which means which we should give equal ethical consideration to animals as they share similar essential interests that we’d consider unethical to violate in the human context. The fact plant based agriculture inherently has far less -

“People don't like being judged or many vegans' moral superiority complex” There are reasons people may not be able to avoid animal products entirely but no good reason to avoid them as far as practicable and possible which is the standard of veganism
