"Private equity is causing the housing crisis" is a very common take that mixes up cause and effect. Single-family homes are an attractive investment vehicle for private equity because there's a shortage of them, not the other way around.

That is a VERY confused set of decor choices. If you’re going old west, ya gotta go all or nothing, man.

Most gynecologists won’t prescribe combination BC pills to folks with migraines with aura because your increased risk of stroke goes from .005% (1/20000, for non migraine sufferers) to .001% (1/10000). Blew my mind when I learned THAT was the doubling.

RFK Jr. backs down all the time when he gets push back, so if anyone wants to call, here's the HHS number 1-877-696-6775.
I'd also call your senators/reps as well.

This is all so dumb, on so many levels, but one thing that continually infuriates me is the surplus nations getting tariffs. Australia buys TONS more than we do from them! And they still aren’t exempt!!!

I think I am making a career out of shaping those boxes (I call them frameworks) and helping people fill them. Plus, you can always break the structure (intentionally) later.

Goldman estimated today the economy has only felt about half of the increase from tariffs already in place. The stock market has moved on from tariffs. Not sure the economy has.

At his aunt’s wedding, my husband, at the age of one, threw his baby bottle to the ground and cried when the priest asked. Priest was legit startled and thought someone actually was. This was the 80’s.

The Two-Pronged Attack on a Muslim Judicial Nominee How the smearing of Adeel Mangi became a bipartisan exercise.

This is why the Bove seat was vacant, and there’s a real throughline from the forces that defeated the previous Democratic nominee to where we are today.

Plus, I believe the data bears out that most earners pay more in Texas’s tax system because it’s quite regressive in structure compared to CA. Only the rich don’t.

Thankfully, the hegemony of Clown Couture seems to have relaxed a bit. On the rack of public opinion, there is now a tiny sliver of space for the Regular Millennial Guy Look. I don't have to dress like an asshole anymore. What was passΓ© just a few years ago is now vintage-evergreen menswear vocabulary. Whatever the reason for this, dayenu. It's starting to feel like the good old days again, back when we wore clothes and not the reverse. Back when we could walk around downtown without tiny children popping out with tiny microphones asking us how much our outfits cost. Back when genies were happy living in bottles.

Millennial men of Bluesky, my husband wrote a piece about giving up on wearing big pants and I am here to co-sign the decision

All I think about when I hear people say that it’s bad taste to dance on Hulk Hogan’s grave is that Emmett Till’s monument had to be replaced with a 500lb steel bulletproof monument because white people simply won’t stop riddling it with bullets. So now it just has tons of dents. From bullets.

know we're not supposed to share things like this on Linkedn, but I'm going to share it anyway because it was horrifying and it's happening everywhere and it needs to be shared.
This morning when I was driving home after dropping my son off at summer camp, I saw a swarm of ICE agents as I drove past our local Home Depot. It looked like they were tying up some workers, and my first reaction was to pull into the parking lot.
I couldn't think. I couldn't process. I couldn't reason. I just jumped out of my car and started filming.
I then watched as these two people were disappeared into unmarked vehicles, with one of the ICE vehicles trying to back into me when I wasn't looking.
Another woman tried to help. An ICE agent tried to slap her phone down when she tried to get a phone number to call this man's family. They wouldn't let her. Instead, they whisked him away and accused her of obstructing justice.
I'm currently lying awake in bed at 11pm thinking about how these men won't return home to their families tonight, and their families will probably never know what happened to them.
I've been through some traumatic events in my life, but I've never witnessed anything like this.
This was down the street from my son's elementary school in our little peaceful coastal town.
You may not see it on the news, but you'll hear it from me because it needs to be shared.

From the LinkedIn of the womanβ€”a white lawyer from Carlsbad, CAβ€”who filmed this encounter and shared the video:

Andor is, at its core, about hope. But it really does show how hard that is to hold onto, while it’s also essential for keeping up the fight.

And joy begets hope. Joy is how we reinvigorate and reminds us what we’re fighting for.

This is a β€œfor the future” rec, if you use Chrome. I create tab groups which auto save to your account AND are collapsible. Any time you log into chrome anywhere you can access them again, and you can delete the whole group when you’re done. They work a lot better for me than bookmarks.

(Also, as a lapsed Catholic, I always come to the replies for this. Catholicism has plenty of faults, but these are fringe ideas. It’s often quite progressive!)

It is a crime Franco is not taught more in the US. I learned about him mostly through AP Spanish Lit, but that wasn’t the curriculum. We make a big deal about β€œdefeating” fascism in Germany, Italy, and Japan, while Franco carried on for 30 years.

This is a trait I admire deeply in my husband. He is un-self conscious in his many nerdy loves, and very in touch with his inner child without being childish (which he uses in his work as a leader in zoo education). It’s a liberating way to β€œbe a man” imo.

I watch for the hats and the Broadway actors (waiting for the musical episode).

Oh, and Carrie Coons somehow making a meal out of the bland writing.

So many election takes are based on vibes or prejudices.

Celinda Lake actually asked Biden 2020 / Non-Voting 2024 voters for their thoughts.
