The mere suggestion of firing someone that has reported what the numbers show and not what you want them to show is a threat to government scientists and scientific rigor in this country. What an embarrassment.

It's become clear that this administration is just a protracted war on anybody who's read a book without pictures in it. It's a miracle we're all still getting up and going to work every morning. The psychological drain is the point, and I'm increasingly grateful to the people who are still decent.

Huge huge problem. Lack of arkees creates a bottleneck for any project that has to go through compliance. Case in point, fish passage project for ESA species delayed for a year due to this bottleneck. Which landed construction in 2025 which means the project was killed.

They never pay attention to the minutia. For example, survey project shut down due to fire. Dollars were slated but not obligated. Another example, congress does not pass a budget forever, get the budget 3/4 of the way through the fiscal and already beyond contracting deadlines. Etc etc.

The Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 called for dismantling the NOAA, which provides warnings of natural disasters, such as the deadly floods in Texas. The irony is that Heritage wanted these cuts because it’s angry that NOAA helps prove the reality of climate change--the thing causing floods.

This has always been the GOP's strategy:

1) Cut taxes for the wealthy & corporations by claiming they'll pay for themselves.

2) Explode deficits

3) Use the debt as an excuse to demand cuts to vital programs that help millions.

4) Repeat.

This was a given. As soon as campaign donors started to feel some pain the admin taco-ed. If you eat an apple from the pnw, you support undocumented labor. If you drink a beer made with US hopps, you are supporting undocumented labor. If you eat a cherry, you are supporting undocumented labor.
