In Landmark Ruling, Federal Court Says Trump Administration Violated First Amendment By Deporting Foreign Citizens for Pro-Palestinian Advocacy BOSTON—Judge William G. Young of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts today ruled that the Trump administration’s policy of arresting, detaining, and deporting noncitizen students and faculty members for their pro-Palestinian advocacy violates the First Amendment.

Robert Boikess, PhD (1937-2025) Rutgers Chemistry Faculty since 1968 Union Member-Leader since 1970 A lifelong advocate for dignity, fairness, and speaking truth to power. We honor his memory, and we commit to continuing to build solidarity at Rutgers and beyond, as he did throughout his time at Rutgers.

We are saddened to share that Professor Robert Boikess has passed at 88. Bob joined Rutgers Chemistry in 1968 & the union in our first days in 1970. For over 50 years he was a member-leader & a steadfast voice for fairness, dignity, & the public good. We honor his memory & the solidarity he built.

Ann Dexter Gordon (1944–2025) – AHA Ann Dexter Gordon, a distinguished documentary editor and director of the Stanton–Anthony Papers project, died on March 19, 2025, at the age of 80.

A thoughtful memorial of great member activist and leader, Ann Gordon, whose legacy continues to guide our responses to these trying times.
