Terraforming Mars' poles would take more nuclear energy than the entire Cold War arsenal 🀯

But there may be an easier way - tiny nanorods that could trap heat and start a runaway greenhouse effect. Here's the science behind #terraformingMars:

~75% of aluminium ever mined is still in use today, due to the value of recycling it as well as the ease of recycling it. So be sure to recycle your aluminium products to reduce the amount of energy we need to use to refine it!

Historically, refined aluminium was so hard to make that it was more valuable than gold or silver until ~the last few hundred years. Aluminium plates were more of a sign of wealth than gold or silver plates at least until around 1850.

Aluminium refineries use massive amounts of energy. The biggest aluminium refinery in Australia is Tomago, which has 850 MW consumption (~3% of Australia's instantaneous electricity demand).

Refining aluminium is one of the most energy intensive materials to produce. If you only wanted to recycle one material, be sure it's aluminium!

Some interesting facts about aluminium (aluminum for my US friends): A thread!

Aluminium is super energy intensive to produce, typically by refining bauxite. You can refine some clays for aluminium in theory but it's not usually economical.
