The living Israeli hostages have been released as part of a ceasefire deal that also saw about 2000 Palestinian prisoners freed.
Wait, but why are the Israelis โhostagesโ and the Palestinians โprisonersโ?
In todayโs video, thatโs the question weโre exploring:
I was called in multiple times to give advice on the language and content to this apology.
I don't know what the final wording will be.
But the comments from racist troglodytes in response to the announcement of the apology alone speaks volumes to why it's needed.

the ceasefire on Israel's genocidal "war" against the Palestinian people has already been breached, repeatedly, by ... oh, big fucking surprise ... by Israel.

when even the Beaverton struggles to make satire over something ...
I threw up my breakfast on seeing this happen during MP Statements just prior to QP.
Like we needed more evidence for where Con & Libs stand in relation to christo-fascist white-supremacists.

I spoke to national French-language media all morning about this. I did three separate interviews before 10am.
I was interviewed for the U.S. publication WIRED about it.
But English-language Canadian media? Crickets.
Itโs just so odd!
A bit rich coming from Poilievre when his own wife retweeted a post by Andrew Scheer directing the right-wing mob to go after @rachelgilmore.bsky.social.
His familyโs safety matters. No so much those who donโt subscribe to his political project.
And then we have journalist Rachel Gilmore who has been targeted with false accusations (yet again) by certain senior CON members, including Andrew Scheer.
And this has resulted in death threats ... many of them ... which I can believe, having been previously targeted by the assholes on the R.
Funny how "free speech" seems to be so politically lop-sided that it's only a thing that those on the R seem to be allowed to practice (or get to use as a defence), and never something that anyone else is allowed, especially when calling out the hate-mongers on the R.

Manitoba Families Minister Nahanni Fontaine had to apologize and retract her comments.
What did they do wrong?
They both called out Kirk for what he was: a christo-fascist white-nationalist who only ever peddled hate.
The CONS are actively targeting any (semi) public figures who dare say anything negative about Kirk.
Example: UofT Prof Ruth Marshall has been placed on a leave of absence for daring to say those things.
It's almost like "free speech" is a one-sided thing. [/sarcasm]
The most exhausting thing about today has definitely been seeing so many Liberals (old and new) do some complicated cognitive gymnastics trying to defend the PMO's initial decision to even invite a christo-fascist like Roberts in the first place.
Beaverton's satire gave me some much-needed giggles.
well, that makes it pretty clear that they don't have the slightest inkling of how F'd up this was to begin with.

If they're willing to murder a Palestinian-American journalist and fire on an international diplomatic delegation, you can imagine how dangerous the IDF is for actual Palestinians in Jenin (and everywhere).
Itโs plain for all to see.

As an anthropologist, Congress really has not been a priority for me (we have CASCA and AAA), but yeah, for a lot of other fields this is a big deal.
But it also seems that it will still happen virtually or on smaller/local scale, if I'm reading the announcement right?
