I shared this earlier with my 16 yo who plans to be a historian. He said, "Historians can do that?!" I was so happy to say that they do!

Tal vez haya datos sobre esto, pero mi impresiรณn es que Bluesky es una plataforma predominantemente anglรณfonaโ€”y que ademรกs su parte hispana, ya de por sรญ limitada, es predominantemente ibรฉrica.

I learn, reading U. Le Guin, that H. G. Wells called his early works (early examples of what later would be known as science fiction) as "scientific romances" or "fantasies of possibility."

Gabions are quite useful in civil/road engineering as low cost containment walls. In that context they can be quite beautiful. Here, they don't. (They are not doing what they are supposed to do.) Perhaps a more inspired/refined Gabion recontextualization is Herzog & DeMeuron's Dominus Winery.

The fight against fascism is also a fight for a shared sense of reality. We see demagogues twisting the facts and blatantly lying, while legacy media are keen to present every story as a matter of conflicting interpretations. With social media drowning in #AIslop, this is only going to get worse

Human brains feed off of negativity. Negative thoughts are easily digested and play in a loop in your mind all of the time. The reality, however, is that there is also A LOT OF GOOD happening every single minute. You have to do more work to pay attention to the good but it's worth it.

Not sure who these contemporary Luddites are. But decentralizing AI technologies *is* core to so many critiques of AI today -- e.g. Gebru et al's DAIR stands literally for Distributed AI Research.

The most precious commodity you have is your attention. You donโ€™t have to waste it on poor-faith debates or arguments with strangers if you donโ€™t think theyโ€™ll be productive. You can prioritize the things that matter to you and make your life richer.
