07.10.2025 18:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There's a bug in Unreal where Text Wrapping inside of a Scale Box creates this circular logic that causes the text to resize constantly.
It's like my PTSD Bug. Every time it comes up, I remember staring into an extremely strong gin drink and rethinking my entire life one night.
There could not be a game more thoroughly up my alley in terms of art style and gameplay...
Sadly they failed to disclose on Steam that it has Generative AI Art in it.
Everyone I've ever met who did film before coming into games are absolute masters of the craft. Wish I had taken those classes in university

I'll take a second look! The only one I saw was a "This is what a track is... this is how to create a sequence...", whereas I'm looking more for the actual decision making, shot selection, etc.
12.09.2025 18:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hey #GameDev got a question for you:
Are there any good Classes for Cinematic Camera work in Unreal out there?
The only advice I've gotten so far is: "Go to film school, lol." which isn't workable.
The only time a journalist wants to chat is when there's an exciting game in front of us, and that is the topic. Never once have I been asked: "Hey Nick, whatcha playing for fun?".
As far as how the Sausage is made: Most of us won't shut the hell up about it if you ask, it's just boring stuff.
Magic circle mentioned! We are on the board guys!

That really comes down to the art direction which is so not my realm of expertise. But crafting a vision for the game and ensuring it is cohesive across the various disciplines is the core of it.
You can do a lot with text, wiggly cards, and particle fx.
We try! Usually by making a lot of extra work for ourselves but hopefully it helps us stand out!

"Oh, our shaders are like that because everything in-game is a skeletal mesh."
"Like... The grass?"
"Skeletal mesh."
"The buildings?"
"Skeletal mesh."
"SKYBOX!?"

Speaking as someone who is working on both a Card Game: store.steampowered.com/app/2781470/...
And an RPG: www.fateboundgames.com
They are such different monsters it's hard to compare the two.
RPGs are an enormous art burden. Extremely Apples to Oranges comparison as far as the content required.
Each of those 50 abilities is gonna have its own timing, animations, scripted logic, etc... When for card based games you can usually define everything in data via keywords.
@dphrygian.com (The Developer) is a friend and a very cool guy who sometimes posts progress on it here on Bsky!
