Great initiative by Wiley! The publisher has started marking retracted papers in reference lists. When you click on the retraction notice, you can also see the date and reason for the retraction.
All publishers should adopt this practice. But also screen references during submission.

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

the senju kannon-like women of wartime Japan, expected to simultaneously (from bottom left) support soldiers on the front, bear/nurture children, volunteer their labor, save funds, take up arms, console the bereaved, and fight fires
Drawn by the Ono Saseo, still trying to figure out the date!
I'd say she's feeding the baby - not simply "holding ... a baby".
Look at that little hand on the woman's breast! πΆ

An event flyer with featuring a mashup of the Reddit alien logo and the universal breast-feeding sign. The alien has a little leaf on their antenna. The color scheme is retro, with teal and yellow and navy. There is a speech bubble that says βBoobs?β with a question mark. And the other bubble answers, βBoobsβ with a period. Text: LACTATION SCIENCE AMA FRI AUG 1st 12-5 PM EST r/AskScience
Second page of the scrolling flyer. The breastfeeding alien floats in the background. The color scheme is retro, with teal, butter yellow, navy, Air Force blue, and orange/peach tones. In the middle there is a banner that says βPanelists!β With #WBW2025 below it. All around there are different color circles like floating bubbles, and they all have little dots on them like nipples. MEGHAN AZAD, PhD biochemist, epidemiologist, microbiologist REBECCA POWELL, PhD, CLC Human milk immunologist, certified lactation counselor KARINNE CARDOSO MUNIZ, MD Neonatologist, grad student in Pediatrics and Child Health (MSc) MARION M. BENDIXEN, PhD, MSN, RN, IBCLC board-certified lactation consultant, nurse-scientist, clinical and translational scientist KAYTLIN KRUTSCH, PhD, PharmD, MBA, BCPS Lactation pharmacologist, director of the InfantRisk Center At the bottom it says: r/AskScience There is an arrow pointing to the right.
Third page of the scrolling flyer. The breastfeeding alien floats in the background. The color scheme is retro, with teal, butter yellow, navy, Air Force blue, and orange/peach tones. Fourth page. More floating boobs, except this time the boobs do not have text on them. Instead, the text is overplayed over word boxes. On the left is a colorful logo for world breast-feeding week that features a family with a baby drawn in rainbow line with a green arrow encircling them. Below it, the text reads: β#WORLDBREASTFEEDINGWEEK celebrates all breastfeeding journeys, no matter what they look like. It is held in the first week of August every year.β The word βAllβ is bolded. On the right side of the breastfeeding reddit alien appears again. It is sitting atop a graphic of the earth. Below it, the text reads: βThe theme for 2025 is focused on breastfeeding as a sustainable source of nutrition-but one that requires sustainable support systems order to thrive.β βSustainable source of nutritionβ is bolded. βsustainable support systems order to thriveβ is both bolded and italicized.

I can send you a bibliography. Lactation is very robust generally, even among very malnourished mothers. evidence shows the first signs of impact are on volume not composition, but protracted calorie deficit obvs negatively impacts volume & comp. Poor quality of available studies and few studies.
