I say we need a general strike because voting in the midterms alone simply won’t be enough to move the needle in a big enough way to keep this from happening again. The Dems are in the pockets of capitalists too, they just seek to maintain the og oppressive status quo over the chaos the GOP seeks

A general strike would be a great (and peaceful) very effective act of protest. Disruption is a major part of any successful movement. Difficult to organize, but not impossible. Only 3.5% of the pop. need to participate to be effective, which, by some estimates, is the number of NoKings attendees

Also, virtually every march of protest that has been effective was done in conjunction with long extended acts of disruption of the systems they were protesting. Including Selma, tho the whitewashed story of MLK would like you to believe otherwise (hmm, and why would that be do you think? 🤔)

(Also look into and research the sites/organizations yourself, I did a brief look to make sure they weren’t phishing scams, but I’m not a master at checking such things so don’t take my word alone for it)

The range of attendees does vary by source so the number of 11mil may be inflated, but the low end is still 5 mil and that’s HUGE number of people that could make a major difference in mobilizing a general strike

If every person who attended the #NoKings protest signed up for a general strike we would have enough people to make one effective. It only takes %3.5 of the population to be effective, and that equals out to about 11mil, the number of ppl who attended nationwide

Consider looking into this. If we want the needle to move we need to consider a general strike. Disruption of the status quo, and stopping the shift into a new more oppressive (and fascist) status quo, is one our best peaceful options at resisting.

In the middle of moving and it’s a fun time having to do that as well as a million other necessary adult things that have to get done within the same week 😓

I hate how doing art for myself stresses me the hell out to the point of paralysis at times these days, whereas doing art for work doesn’t at all.

It’s major cult brainwashed behavior fr 😩 we all need to be more active in deprogramming ourselves away from all the insidious ways ‘American exceptionalism’ has taken root in our subconscious. We’re all victims of it, right AND left, and deprogramming requires a conscious persistent effort to work

Im not saying the above news isn’t worth reporting just bc it’s from the yt/male bias, I just want to know what other ppl care about. Also, most the stuff I hear reported by yt ppl is all stuff I cant do much about w/ no advice on how to react. It all just feel like hopelessness/frustrated rage fuel

I have to search HARD to see what things ppl from more marginalized groups are additionally reporting as newsworthy. Bc I see mostly yt men ind/news getting pushed I see mostly updates on: Russia/US/Ukraine relations, policy effects on general Economy stuff, and bad Elon/Trump/Republican actions.

I agree that media corps aren’t reliable sources of (mostly)objective news and that independent sources r the way to go: but I wish all the popular independent sources I hear about weren’t all helmed by white men…w/o diverse sources of news we’ll only ever see it from the yt/male bias, uncontested

Also it would allow for those who wouldn’t be striking to support by being those that can financially contribute to strike funds. For a gen strike to work the ppl striking would need to feel safe enough to survive a strike bc ppl would be risking homes, ability to pay for medical care, etc

I don’t even think it would have to be a general strike across every employment sector to be effective. It would just need to be most ppl w/in a sector of work striking en masse and not just random ppl here n there across all areas. That would be to easy for corps to just replace.

I’m SHIT at handling anticipatory anxiety, but ask me to handle something in reaction to an immediate crisis and I can deal with that pretty well. Otherwise I’m just preparing for what might happen, which means I’m preparing for or trying to stop/prevent millions of horrifying possibilities

Use PLAUSIBLE FAKE data that will take TIME and EFFORT to run down.

Anyone who has ever worked for any major corporation ever knows how bad they are at running a functional business. If not for all their grifting and theft none of these companies would actually be profitable.

Ah the hubris of the obscenely wealthy and thinking that someone’s wealth is a direct reflection of a persons intelligence…(I once met a super rich kid who genuinely straight faced told me he believed that ‘Only smart ppl get rich, and ppl only stay poor bc they’re to stupid to figure it out’)

It’s funny bc when they say ‘they’re gonna run the gov like a business’ bc this is exactly the bs corps do everyday lol. I’m convinced the only reason corps some make money instead of lose it despite this incompetence is only from abusing/grifting/leaching off the systems they’re now fucking with
