Trump just killed the EPA’s ability to fight climate change. It may backfire. The EPA’s repeal of the “endangerment finding” could threaten automakers and oil companies — if it survives in court.

Crucial point from @grist.org:

"API pioneered many of the arguments now wielded against the endangerment finding... Trump’s EPA used many of these same arguments in its proposed endangerment finding repeal, demonstrating how much his deregulatory agenda owes to the oil industry’s work."

This is a problem. We need to transition away from burning fossil fuels for energy over to renewables (solar, wind, hydro) & nuclear. Instead the strategy in the US is to increase production of natural gas to record levels. We keep investing in yesterdays power.

Hoping each of us will do our part. There is nothing stopping us from cutting the emissions we cause. With 70% of emissions driven by household purchase decisions, our actions matter too. Stop eating beef, eat less meat, start planning for an EV, heat pump. Fly less. Set the norm. Change markets.

3. Continue to take the climate actions you are most in control of - eliminate or reduce your own emissions.
It's time to begin again on all three fronts, including the third focus which is the central focus of CO2mmit. Watch for a CO2mmit blog starting up on Substack (@co2mmit) on February 25.

2. Personally talk to your member of congress to explain your desire that laws are passed with clear language regulating greenhouse gas emissions (work with groups like @cclusa.org )

Today the US EPA revoked the endangerment finding which is central to the current legal structure to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. Time for 3 actions.

The Trump administration repealed the endangerment finding, a scientific finding that greenhouse gases threaten public health and welfare.

The endangerment finding compels the government to limit climate pollution as a matter of public health. Repealing it has no basis in law or reality.
