not mad about it at all
I just needed a placeholder cover, so here we are; cover is definitely not final (look forward to the proper one later)
#announcement time
on March 13 The Sordid Tale of Sir Ginger goes live in both e-book and paperback
follow Sir Ginger as he fights unspeakable horrors, trying to rescue a foul princess from a pimp dragon
preorder it here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0GMFYVXQ5
(cover not final)

I think it was something that could be really complementary when played to and around but there were definitely plenty of games that struggled to make it work
09.02.2026 05:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0day 30: your next Final Fantasy game
I do want to get to the remake of Final Fantasy Tactics (The Ivalice Chronicles) and there's at least a 69% chance that's the next game in the series I get to lol
anyway that's been enough talking about Final Fantasy for a bit (probably)
she is certainly up to no good
08.02.2026 23:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0this is whatever the malicious version of "smizing" is
have you ever seen a kitten as soft and hateful as mine
08.02.2026 21:25 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0day 29: Final Fantasy you want remade most
easily Tactics Advance
tbh I'll settle for a port lol
day 28: favorite title card artwork
most of them are honestly quite good at evoking the game's feeling but VII does it best (in my eyes)
day 27: total Final Fantasy titles played
off the top of my head that number is 19
I might have missed one somewhere
she looks especially round here
today's #FCF may not be Flat in the conventional sense but she exudes Flat energy
06.02.2026 15:18 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0did your boy just start a Substack
absolutelyyyyyyyy

day 26: hardest boss battle
(excluding superbosses)
Wiegraf/Belias in Riovanes Castle in FTT is one of the reasons I'm loath to revisit the game
tbh any solo battle in SRPGs is usually skewed against you but that one is just uniquely miserable
day 25: favorite world/setting
Ivalice, hands down
it's the world that has probably the most done with it, and I've tended to lose myself most easily in its various games
day 24: worst minigame
does anyone actually enjoy the Thunder Plains lightning dodging in X
it was a little side project that I liked the seeds of enough to get it out of the door
#booksky book promo time
this time the one I don't talk about much
* gay urban fantasy with spirits and demons doing their thing
* cantankerous protagonist
* a cult
* romance
* short (about 50k words)
available on #KimdleUnlimited and for purchase (US$2.99)
link:
www.amazon.com/dp/B0FSCD3DG...
three thoughts that might help you:
* start marketing and drumming up interest well ahead of your planned launch window (and try to get ARC reviews lined up)
* get (or make) a good cover
* build up a network of fellow authors for support, advice, and what not
day 23: favorite minigame
VII's chocobo breeding and racing is the kind of thing deep enough and intricate enough that you could maybe spin a whole game out of it, were you so inclined, so probably that
right now I have one novel I consider "trunked" that I wrote after my first novel came out
there are plenty of seeds that went nowhere before novel no.1 but the first thing I got to novel length was what ultimately got to print (albeit a decade after its first attempt)
cOcAInE
guess I'm staying home today
(yes I was planning to anyway)
day 22: Final Fantasy you played most
in terms of total play time, it's going to be either Tactics Advance or Tactics A2, no question
(SRPGs are my jam)
in terms of unique playthroughs I think it's probably the GBA remake of I (as part of the "Dawn of Souls" package)
so I just finished the first draft of my current project
it's short (45.5k words) but that can be fixed
it's a twist on the "knight rescues princess from dragon" tale
the knight's a coward, the princess is a bitch, and the dragon is a pimp
yes I am insane

day 21: favorite armor design
(pretty interesting query)
the Ivalice judges' armor has always caught my eye across the games it appears in (so probably that)
the dragoon armor is sleek as fuck but maybe a bit on the nose tbh
day 20: favorite story
Final Fantasy Tactics certainly has a story that resonates even now and I quite love that
honorable mentions to FFTA, XII, IX, and even VII
look at that hateful little angel
heck yeah it's #FCF and it's time for y'all to behold a Cat that is Flat, soft, and hateful all at once
30.01.2026 05:57 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0day 19: favorite supporting character or NPC
after thinking about it I kept coming back to FFIX's Cid
him being an oglop and a frog at various points was amusing and added a bit of humor to the story
day 18: favorite spin-off, sequel, or remake
spin-off: Tactics Advance
sequel: XII Revenant Wings
remake: IV for the DS
yes I did all three
one of these days I really should make a retro-style RPG that is nice and gay (on top of being an homage to my childhood)
take all the homoerotic subtext and make it less subtext
day 17: favorite soundtrack
XII, FFTA, and IX are the three that immediately jump to mind though I tend to think more of individual songs I like and less of whole soundtracks usually
single favorite is probably XII though
(swirly murder bouncy ball is for engagement)
day 16: favorite spell/summon
Ultima has always interested me in both how the "ultimate magic" is gated and how it feels when you get it
As for summons I love the Ivalice Espers and Zodiark is incredibly cute and deadly (the perfect combination)
day 15: favorite boss fight
this was tricky because of how many I like but the final boss of IX, Necron, felt right to me
it's less a battle about brute force and more about planning and guile
IX having lower numbers across the board was a nice feature
(also Grand Cross is horrifying)
