Saw a pair of 56s today on RHTT duty. Sadly I was working and heading the opposite way 😐
Saltburn if I’m not mistaken, lovely little place

29.09.2025 01:03 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0There’s one due up to Newcastle later on. There’s also one showing it’s going to Liverpool and Hull and that it splits at Man Vic but was showing as a single 80x unit. Unless it’s changed since this morning that’ll take some doing!
28.09.2025 10:56 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0You must have been at Shildon when I was today. You walked under the bridge when I was up getting a view of the rail tour heading back to Darlington but wasn’t sure if it was you or not
27.09.2025 17:13 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Nice little day out at Locomotion for the 200th birthday with a couple of colleagues. Some old, some new and some current stuff as well as a rail tour up to Stanhope and back from Carnforth

But being kettled and apparently the police are agreeing an alternative route for the far right

24.09.2025 13:56 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The lesser spotted spare today so a few steps in round toon. The Stephenson monument on Neville St, very prominent given the 200th birthday of the railway as we know it is this Saturday, just across from the listed building of NCL Central. Likely be packed with Bradford fans in a few hours too!
24.09.2025 13:04 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Don’t know why TOC apps won’t just do cheapest fares to start with. The amount of people who think they have to alight at the split point and then end up on wrong trains with adv tix is crackers. Also when they split and part is anytime and part advance and folk end up on wrong train then too 🤯
22.09.2025 13:32 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Just caught a passing glimpse of Royal Scots Grey 50022 passing at Dunston this morning as I was on my way into work. Fabulous bit of kit looking resplendent. On its way back to Crewe after spending the weekend at Heaton for the depot open day
22.09.2025 13:27 — 👍 8 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0By the time trainline add their booking fee, it usually ends up being more than what the saving was with ridiculously confusing split tickets 🤷♂️

Back at it tomorrow volunteering on the @rail200.bsky.social Inspiration train at Darlington!
There are certainly worse views from an office window out there

A sunny (and on time) view of water next to rail along the Tyne Valley.
Just for @jenonthemove.com after the grey and frustrating trip a short while ago
Hope you’re doing ok! Get well soon and hopefully you’re able to get back out finding water next to railways in no time 🤞🏻🤞🏻
06.04.2025 23:07 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The majority who fall into that category usually didn’t have connections. They were at the toilet, in the shop or grabbing food/drink are the usual scenarios. Those with tight connections have usually asked the guard. Got a lady to Edinburgh ok via that method last week, she was delighted 😊
06.04.2025 11:52 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0These things happen. Couldn’t fault the railway, instant refund on tickets or option to defer travel. Just a shame that other businesses chose to profiteer on the misery of folks. Always the case
06.04.2025 10:38 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Was a couple of years ago in November when everything north of Newcastle got shut down for an entire weekend. Can’t remember what the storm was named but it was wild
06.04.2025 10:34 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Quite the Christmas market in Edinburgh. I’ve looked at this before as I was due to stay in leith but a red weather warning put paid to my travel plans, never got my hotel refund as apparently it wasn’t their fault I couldn’t attend 🙄
