Nice little day out at Locomotion for the 200th birthday with a couple of colleagues. Some old, some new and some current stuff as well as a rail tour up to Stanhope and back from Carnforth

The extremely rare sight of a Class 37 at NCL as it changes crew while running 2Z03 Glasgow Central to York Holgate.

The lesser spotted spare today so a few steps in round toon. The Stephenson monument on Neville St, very prominent given the 200th birthday of the railway as we know it is this Saturday, just across from the listed building of NCL Central. Likely be packed with Bradford fans in a few hours too!

Don’t know why TOC apps won’t just do cheapest fares to start with. The amount of people who think they have to alight at the split point and then end up on wrong trains with adv tix is crackers. Also when they split and part is anytime and part advance and folk end up on wrong train then too 🤯

Just caught a passing glimpse of Royal Scots Grey 50022 passing at Dunston this morning as I was on my way into work. Fabulous bit of kit looking resplendent. On its way back to Crewe after spending the weekend at Heaton for the depot open day

By the time trainline add their booking fee, it usually ends up being more than what the saving was with ridiculously confusing split tickets 🤷‍♂️

I left my car at the park and ride at metro centre, it is my preferred option depending upon my start/finish time

The majority who fall into that category usually didn’t have connections. They were at the toilet, in the shop or grabbing food/drink are the usual scenarios. Those with tight connections have usually asked the guard. Got a lady to Edinburgh ok via that method last week, she was delighted 😊

These things happen. Couldn’t fault the railway, instant refund on tickets or option to defer travel. Just a shame that other businesses chose to profiteer on the misery of folks. Always the case

Was a couple of years ago in November when everything north of Newcastle got shut down for an entire weekend. Can’t remember what the storm was named but it was wild

Quite the Christmas market in Edinburgh. I’ve looked at this before as I was due to stay in leith but a red weather warning put paid to my travel plans, never got my hotel refund as apparently it wasn’t their fault I couldn’t attend 🙄
