My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

The Republican plan is to hurt the America people cause they have figured that fear and economic anxiety will get them votes. Just like it got them into office last time. It’s a cynical game being played by a truly sadistic party without any guard rails.

This speech never gets old.

Sanders: Let’s be clear… If this vote succeeds, over 20 million Americans are going to see at least a doubling in their premiums… if resolution is passed tonight, we are on a path way to throw 15 million Americans off of medicaid and the affordable care act, 15 million.

Public policy is supposed to try to protect people from scams, not create new scams so people can get exploited.

Who benefits from 50 year mortgages: banks, developers, realtors, estate lawyers.

Who gets screwed: everyone else.

I think they recognize that fear and economic anxiety is what got them in office. More pain equates to votes in their cynical view.

It’s all a part of their political strategy: they hope that by creating more economic uncertainty for their base it will keep them in office, just like it did last time. Fear drives the poor to vote against their interests.
