24 July 1960 John Lennon and Stuart Sutcliffe's student apartment at 3 Gambier Terrace, Liverpool was featured in the Sunday People newspaper. A poster in the background of the shot is for a show featuring The Beatles and Gerry and the Pacemakers at the Grosvenor Ballroom, Wallasey on 6 June

Excellent. Pedantically it should really be Grand-Mere Forgeronne. Or perhaps Grand-Mere Favre. But we'll let it go!

Also - they've done B and G twice in the Apple Alphabet. So actually it's 22 to go!

21 July 1958 the funeral of John Lennon's mother Julia was held following her death in a road accident on Menlove Avenue 6 days earlier. John, then aged 17, is said to have cried throughout the service. Some believe some of John's remains were buried in the plot at Allerton Cemetery a few years ago
