Very good. Very interested to hear the detailed discussion of why the flange pedal is not named after Fred Flange. But then, much like the identity of the man who tried to destory London's monument, the actual origin of the pedal is in the end not given!

Radio Merseyside - Listen Live - BBC Sounds Listen live to BBC Radio Merseyside on BBC Sounds

Griff pops up around the 10:21 mark - but manages to introduce a bit of drama when they seem to lose him on the phone for a few moments. A nice interview though www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

BBC Radio Merseyside - Tony Snell, 02/10/2025 Great music, interviews, quizzes and all the weekday talking points.

Griff Rhys Jones will be on Tony Snell's show on Radio Merseyside sometime after 10 this morning - talking about his forthcoming one man show (which I help him with a little bit!) at the Floral Pavilion, New Brighton on 12 October www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

Thanks, Paul. Let's just say a few weeks ago I was asked by medical staff on several occasions: "So... do you still have the rest of it?" No, I didn't. Guitar player as well!

Another very interesting and entertaining episode. In answer to your question, no Stuart Sutcliffe would not have met John Lennon at the time he appeared on Youth Wants to Know with Spike Milligan in early 1957 as John didn't start at Liverpool Art College until September that year

This week Tyler tackles listeners' questions!

What if Spike had written for Tony Hancock?
Why did Barry Cryer complain about the Goons?
Was Minnie Bannister inspired by The Bride of Frankenstein?

..And much much more!

26 September 1967 Yoko Ono appeared at the Bluecoat Chambers in Liverpool. When Yoko did a piece which involved her being entirely wrapped up in bandages, the Scaffold's John Gorman famously called from the back of the hall: "You're wanted on the phone, love!" www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxNJ...

EP005 - I Saw Her Standing There | The Beatles: Note By Note

Listening to this great pod shows.acast.com/the-beatles-.... I Saw Her Standing There is quite like When The Saints Go Marching In, the one song Paul learnt on the trumpet. Also Beatles/Goons crossover has anyone noticed when John songs "Held her hand in mi-ine" it's "Hello Ji-im" from the Goons!

Presumably the blue-pencil-clutching BBC censors were blissfully unaware of another meaning of the word 'nadgers' when they let this go out in 1956! We also discuss Liberace, Son of Fred, Telegoons and... Harry Potter?

One of several Sellers shows on BBC Sounds at the moment. Did not know the Not The Nine O'Clock News connection to Sellers' death. Also Michael Sellers claims he was the source of "He's fallen in the water" What do you think of that @goonpod.bsky.social www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b...

As ChatGPT sums it up, "The UK has seen more legal migration after Brexit mainly because leaving the EU ended the free movement of EU citizens, forcing the UK to switch to a points-based immigration system"

You could do an episode on this extremely funny novel by Arthur Mathews for example
