A simple guy who loves his wife and family, enjoys his ham radio with CW and photography hobbies, and roots hard for his Texas Rangers and Texas Longhorns...and doesn't care what you think about it. No politics here, please. Grid locator is EM11ab.

CW Skimmer has always worked well for me. Glad I'm not the only one using it! 72/73 de Warren, WQ1C.

And there's another reason why I don't use AI in anything. Especially when in occasion it will completely fabricate things worse than life-long hardened criminals.

Outstanding photograph. That's making me think about getting back into photography on a regular basis.

Don't feel like a fool, Fred. This is all because of one person and one person only, the orange Cheeto. If it wasn't for him (or it), that friendship would still be in place.

Here is my new W1SFR Horizontal Torsion Bar Straight Key, which I received Monday evening but got it on the air about 0600 UTC this evening. Conditions were lousy, but was heard a little bit on 30 and 40m with RBN with decent reports. Guess I need to get on the air during the day here in Texas.

I had originally thought that I would move up to finally purchasing a bug key, but I've found that I prefer straight and iambic keys more. Here's one of my favorite keys, the LTA 2003 Christmas key #042. Only a few hundred of these were made.

I haven't been on Bluesky in quite a while. That was because of the social media drugs that are named Facebook and Instagram. I'm back where I belong now.

Last week, this storm blew into the Austin, Texas metro and unleashed a hailstorm from Hell. Fortunately for me, my work site missed the hail; we did get heavy rain and wind.

A spiral galaxy, NGC 1637, with a bright core surrounded by swirling arms. The image shows intricate details of the galaxy's structure, including dust lanes and star formation regions.

And doing it all using 5 watts QRP. Yes, even on SSB; that way I don't piss off the "purists."

Great time I had for hunting POTA stations this afternoon with 30 stations in the log using four different operating modes (CW, SSB, FT4, FT8). Trying to finish strong and get to 700 parks confirmed heading into 2025 and Straight Key Month with SKCC (Straight Key Century Club).

This image taken with the Hubble Space Telescope features NGC 4826, otherwise known as M64β€” a spiral galaxy located 17 million light-years away in the constellation of Coma Berenices (Berenice’s Hair). This galaxy is often referred to as the β€œBlack Eye” or β€œEvil Eye” Galaxy because of the dark band of dust that sweeps across one side of its bright nucleus. M64 is known by astronomers for its strange internal motion.
