I mean it is a controversial addition to the game. At least with Opening Gambit it’s, well… a gambit. Theres a downside to losing it.

Imo there should be a tradeoff for losing this too. Like if you splat someone in Flow Aura, you steal it.

I highly recommend dimension 20 or Critical Role. Dimension 20 is a lot more accessible because every season is usually a new campaign. But, if you catch up on the new season of CR, you won’t be too far behind, (it takes place in a new universe)

My gimmick as the voice of a Splatoon mode aside, I do enjoy a lot of other games outside of the genre.

I can tell that the devs put a lot of effort and passion into the game, which is why I’m gonna take my time with it and finish it. Hopefully the rest of the game will feel better.

Idk why I’m writing this. I guess it’s just frustration. I played a lot of really great games in 2025, namely Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Silksong (which are both masterpieces), and I can tell right now that if E33 continues as it has been so far, it will not be among them at the top, for me.

I died 3 or 4 times to him before getting the timings on his attacks. And then I beat him hitless. That felt super lame. It didn’t feel like skill, it felt cheap. I’m pretty sure if you use the audio cue for parries, you can beat this game hitless pretty easily.

Namely, I don’t like that the combat is either INCREDIBLY EASY, or very frustrating.

I beat everything early on in the first try, but once everything started doing combos and fake-outs it started to get irritating. The first real roadblock for me was the ultimate sakapatate guy.

Apparently I’m almost at the end of act 1 of Expedition 33 and I’m pretty sure I don’t like it. I’ve put in ~8ish hours I think.

It’s not that the game isn’t beautiful; the characters, score, monster designs, and combat animations are great! I just dont really enjoy the gameplay.

I started a fire in my kitchen this week. I guess this week has been 🔥 for both of us.
