*SAPs are single file applications I'm leveraging msgpack to create, basically a bundling utility that can take arbitrary files and text, right now I'm using it to bundle Python applications for use in Pyodide

When I'm done I'll be ready to start back in on the website maker and webrtc signaling.

(Cross post from Tumblr) Okay SAPs* officially work now so we've got the foundations for an application system for PierMesh. Gonna do a bit more tinkering and cleanup, should be done by the end of the week like I mentioned.

Meaning (firstly) portable Python applications in a single file. This will make it easy to distribute applications over PierMesh, though some security considerations will have to be made.

(Cross post from Tumblr) Good news, I've had a small breakthrough, while figuring out how to distribute the threading code I realized we can easily package dependencies, code and arbitrary files using almost the same methods.

Working through setting up the git submodules stuff I talked about, realized I want to do more documentation so this will likely take a couple days but should be well worth it

This got delayed, had some issues with my dev server but its been fixed

Updates: threading system is almost done, today I'll be organizing it and other parts of PierMesh into git submodules to make it more modular

Sorry, clarification: 128 Gb per node so ~6.5 Tb total per 60 node network accounting for disk space shrinkage

Napkin math it'd be less then $2k in materials. We'd price it a $5k to cover a whole twin set of nodes for people who can't/shouldn't have to pay and to cover the work involved. But we'd also provide the instructions on how to diy so you can...well diy if you want

One of my longer shot ideas is a network for a whole multi hundred km area (such as a town) that comes preconfigured in a box of a couple dozen nodes. These would come with ~128 gb of storage each to enable simple p2p applications and public library functionality.

Also we fully plan on supporting people who want to make local only networks for whatever purposes

Southwest United States and surrounding areas is where we'd be starting from but we have interop with the main internet so people all over the world can be part of the network as we're building it and eventually we hope to build a worldwide network where people can connect to it directly

Part of what PierMesh as a project is offering are portable, themeable web tools. The site builder will be easily usable elsewhere but even right now PierMesh work has fed back into a free pixel art tool:

Have been doing heavy Pyodide work, was going to do a full os but looks like for now it'll just be multiprocessing for browsers for the time being so I can get to more important work including a site builder for PierMesh

Got my first solar powered tech up and running, this is a RAK 4361 with a unify solar enclosure. Had to cut and splice the cables because the polarity was wrong on the battery but it works! Ran it for about 3 hours just fine
