In our "Build Your Own Bird Feeder" program, participants learned about different types of #bird feeders and the birds that use them. They also practiced their basic #woodworking skills to build their own feeder to take home.

In this hands-on experience, participants collected Japanese Indigo leaves from the #dye garden and created a beautifully dyed silk bandana. With two different varieties of indigo present this year we had quite the range of natural hues!

Participants did a beautiful job in this multi-day class. Using cardboard and acrylic paints they created unique hand-painted fish and assembled their own unique mobiles.
Mobiles are a great way to bring color and unique art into any room.

Kentucky 4-H Celebrates 30 Years of Country Ham Program!
What started in 1995 with just a handful of youth and a few counties has grown into a statewide success. Today, the program includes over 1,020 hams from more than 80 counties, all showcased at the Kentucky State Fair.
Post-harvest fall is the perfect time for soil testing!
You can drop your soil samples off at one of two locations in Boone County. Visit either of our offices M-F, 8AM - 4:30 PM to drop off your soil samples:

20 of our dedicated Boone County Youth participated in Kentucky State 4-H Country Hams this year. Curing a Country Ham is a long process and the project involves giving speeches as well - teaching our youth many important life skills.
