Fantastic to join with some great colleagues and organisations to launch the Labour Group for Men and Boys.

Progressive politics hasn’t always been confident enough in tackling head on some of the challenges facing men and boys in Britain today.

It’s time to put that right.

UK medical graduates used to compete among themselves for roles across the NHS. But after changes made by the last government, they are competing against global candidates.

I’m glad having raised the concerns of several local medical graduates, Minsters have listened and acted.

Real change for leaseholders 🏠

✅ Ground rents capped at £250 a year, cutting bills for thousands.
✅ Removing draconian and exploitative forfeiture powers, which saw people lose their homes.
✅ Banning new leaseholders and allowing leaseholders to convert to Commonhold.

Having grown up locally, Jonathan was the first British soldier killed by enemy action in Afghanistan, on this day in 2004.

Help for military victims of sexual assault as suspects warned 'nowhere to hide' Service police will be handed greater powers for investigations to speed up the process, including allowing officers to authorise detaining suspects before charge

Victims *must* be at the heart of the Service Justice System and we are strengthening protections and improving accountability to do just that in our Armed Forces Bill.

This is a no-fail mission for me.

Great to see the Ministry of Defence leaning in to its responsibilities to halve violence against women and girls with this new law for victims of sexual assault, domestic abuse or stalking by serving military personnel.

Cutting Local NHS Waiting Lists by Over 20,000 ✅📉

Investment and targeted reforms are starting to pay off. Since the general election, waiting lists across our local NHS trusts have fallen by more than 20,000.

But we’re not stopping here.

One of the issues families regularly raise with me about SEND provision is the lack of training for teaching staff 🧑‍🏫

Every child deserves the right support. So I’m delighted Government has listened and acted, investing £200m in an ambitious new training scheme for educators ✅

Another fall in NHS waiting lists 📉

There’s a long way to go yet, and too many people’s experience of the NHS still simply isn’t good enough.

But today’s waiting list falls are another welcome sign that our investments and reforms to the NHS are paying off ✅

Changes to Grok by X are an important win and testament to everyone who called out this grim practise.

Especially the many women who did so knowing it would make them a target for exactly this abuse.

Plenty more to do, but a welcome reminder that it’s in our power to make online spaces safer.
