Our packed #AnimalsMatter reception showed the strength of feeling across the Party. The forthcoming animal welfare strategy must reflect this and make good on the promise to deliver the biggest boost to animal welfare in a generation.

#News: During PMQs this afternoon, @ruthjoneslabour.bsky.social asked the Prime Minister if he agrees it’s time to ban the import of fur. In response the Prime Minister confirmed that the long-awaited animal welfare strategy would be published later this week.

Dr Danny Chambers MP sits alongside 14 other members of the Animal Welfare Bill committee. The Bill passed the committee stage on Wednesday 14th May 2025 with cross-party and government support.

Animals have been suffering at the hands of criminal abusers for far too long. Thanks to cross-party support today, my Animal Welfare Bill can have a bigger impact than I'd ever have hoped to achieve had I remained in veterinary practice treating individual animals.

Brilliant to see the Bill pass Committee Stage yesterday with so much support, thank you so much Danny for everything you’re doing for animals.

50 days until my Fur (Import and Sale) Bill returns to Parliament.

By banning imports, we can finally end our part in the cruel fur trade, two decades after we banned fur farming.

Let’s get this done.
